Partnership with RCC

Refugee Community Connection

RCC is an all-volunteer Chicago based mutual aid organization that seeks to ease the transition of our newly arrived neighbors (refugees, asylees, and others forced to flee their home country) to the Chicago area, by providing resources, information, and household necessities through a personal connection with welcoming neighbors. They seek to supplement refugee basic needs not already met by professional refugee resettlement agencies and government services.

The all-volunteer group strives to ensure that each family has its urgent needs met with basic furniture, beds and bedding, computer, phone, kitchenware and appliances, clothing and footwear, cleaning supplies, diapers, toiletries, and groceries as needed.

They have Free Stores where they collect, sort, organize and store many items in donated space on the northwest and northside of Chicago. Recently arrived refugees shop for free. They coordinate direct delivery of larger donated items to the families in need. Free Store donation drop off and shopping hours are by appointment with Free Store volunteer managers.
